🔴 Latest Update (8 October 2026)
Read this first: As of this update, we could not find a confirmed release of the detailed OUSSSC notification or an open application window for Civil Constable posts. Several earlier articles (including an earlier version of this page) said the notification would be released on 10 June 2026. Current sources still list the application dates as "to be announced." Check ousssc.odisha.gov.in, osssc.gov.in and odishapolice.gov.in directly before acting on any date you see on any website, ours included.
Odisha Police Recruitment 2026 — Where Things Stand
Odisha Police hiring in 2026 involves several moving parts, and many websites mix them up. Here is what the sources actually support.
1. The 7,664-post approval (May 2026). The Home Department approved 7,664 posts and made OUSSSC responsible for the recruitment. The breakdown: Civil Constable 4,219, OISF Constable 2,212, Constable (Communication) 300, and SI & equivalent 933.
2. Civil Constable notification. Reports said it would come out on 10 June 2026. We have not found a source confirming that it was actually released with an open application window. If you applied somewhere, keep your own confirmation; if you did not, the official portals are the only reliable place to check.
3. SI recruitment (933 posts). This is the oldest and most complicated thread. See the timeline below.
4. The 4,195-post sanction (September 2026). An Office Order dated 3 September 2026 sanctions 4,195 posts across ranks under ERSS Phase-III. See the section below for what is and is not known.

SI Recruitment (933 Posts) — Timeline
| When | What happened |
|---|---|
| 20 Jan – 10 Feb 2025 | Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) opened applications for 933 posts: SI, SI (Armed), Station Officer (Fire Service), Assistant Jailor |
| March 2025 | Written exam had been scheduled for 8–9 March 2025 |
| July–Aug 2025 | Corrigendum issued: 3-year age relaxation for all categories, approved by the Odisha High Court and State Government; application window reopened |
| 2026 | Recruitment for these posts moved from OPRB to OUSSSC; reports say OPRB is to transfer candidate data to OUSSSC in encrypted format |
| Now | Reports point to an OUSSSC-run exam around October 2026, but no confirmed date |
Post-wise split (933): SI of Police 609, SI of Police (Armed) 253, Station Officer (Fire Service) 47, Assistant Jailor 24.
If you applied earlier under OPRB: Reports say your application is being carried over to OUSSSC. Watch ousssc.odisha.gov.in for your exam notice.
Why this matters for age: The original SI age limit was 21–25 years. The 3-year relaxation made it 21–28 years. Do not add another 3 years on top of 28.
The 4,195-Post Sanction (ERSS Phase-III) — What We Know
An Office Order (No. 3501/Policy, dated 3 September 2026) from Odisha Police State Headquarters, Cuttack, sanctions 4,195 posts under the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) Phase-III. The ranks listed: Constable, ASI, Havildar Major, SI, SI (Armed), Assistant Commandant, and Additional SP/Deputy Commandant.
What is confirmed: the sanction exists and covers those ranks.
What is not confirmed:
- Whether these posts are in addition to the 7,664 above or partly overlap with them.
- Which body will conduct recruitment (OPRB or OUSSSC).
- When the notification and applications will open. One aggregator says applications may start around October–November 2026, but that is an expectation, not an announcement.
A note on the "3,217 posts" figure: An RTI-based report listed about 3,217 posts (including 253 SI Armed, 154 Driver, 300 Constable Communication and 2,212 OISF Constable). Several of those numbers match the 7,664 breakdown above, so that list appears to overlap with the existing approval rather than add to it. We are not treating it as a separate batch.
We will update this section when an official notification is published.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1. Has the Odisha Police Civil Constable notification been released? Reports said it would be released on 10 June 2026, but current sources still list application dates as "to be announced," and we could not confirm an open application window. Check ousssc.odisha.gov.in and osssc.gov.in for the official position.
Q2. How many posts are there in Odisha Police Recruitment 2026? The Home Department approved 7,664 posts: Civil Constable 4,219, OISF Constable 2,212, Constable (Communication) 300 and SI & equivalent 933. Separately, an Office Order of 3 September 2026 sanctions 4,195 posts under ERSS Phase-III; it is not confirmed whether those are additional to the 7,664.
Q3. What happened to the SI recruitment? The 933-post SI recruitment began under OPRB in January 2025, was affected by delays, received a 3-year age relaxation in mid-2025, and has since been moved to OUSSSC. Reports point to an exam around October 2026, but no date is confirmed.
Q4. What is the SI age limit? 21 to 28 years. That already includes the 3-year relaxation granted in 2025 (the original limit was 21 to 25).
Q5. Do I need to reapply if I applied for SI under OPRB? Reports say candidate data is being transferred to OUSSSC. Keep your application details and watch the official portals for notices.
Q6. Is the Constable qualification 10th or 12th pass? Reports differ: some say 12th pass with age 18–25, others say 10th pass with age 18–23. The official notification will settle this.
Q7. What is the Constable and SI salary? Reported pay is ₹21,700–₹69,100 per month (Level 5) for Constable and ₹35,400–₹1,12,400 (Level 9) for SI, plus allowances.
Q8. Is Odia compulsory? Yes, candidates must be able to speak, read and write Odia.
Conclusion
The honest summary: 7,664 Odisha Police posts are approved, the SI recruitment is being carried forward under OUSSSC after a long delay, and another 4,195 posts were sanctioned in September 2026. What is missing is a confirmed, official notification with application dates for most of these posts. Until that appears, plan your preparation and keep your documents ready, but rely on the official portals for dates.
